Just in time for the 40th anniversary of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Duesenberg presents the Starplayer TV Mike Campbell 40th Anniversary model. Lead guitarist Mike Campbell plays this guitar produced in "Good old Germany" since the end of the 2000s. The two Duesenberg Starplayers TV Mike Campbell I and II are now being followed by a third model, this time even more exciting and also with a historical context.
The Duesenberg Starplayer TV Mike Campbell 40th Anniversary is a semi-hollow electric guitar with a arched top and back, bent sides and a 648 mm scale. The exciting metallic finish in Catalina Green with its two rally stripes in the middle is reminiscent of a classy American sports car. It prompts you to play the guitar immediately! The pickguard adorns Mike Campbell's signature, this time with a very special icon – the number 40, whereby the zero was transformed into a broken heart. A very nice detail – just "Heartbreaker-like".
The Diamond Deluxe tremolo works perfectly and the two pickups make the Starplayer TV Mike Campbell 40th Anniversary a versatile tool. For powerful lead sounds and riffs, the Starplayer has a classicly wound GrandVintage humbucker in the bridge position, while the strong Domino P90 in the neck is ready for airy chords and creamy melodies. In the middle position a special circuit ensures that certain frequencies are filtered out of the humbucker signal. This brightens the tone and creates an independent third sound.
How can you better describe this unique guitar than with the words from Mike Campbell himself: "Is this guitar perfect? Pretty damn close."
