Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster 1963 REL Shell Pink MB Andy Hicks

Anyone who delves into the fascinating history of the Fender Custom Shop quickly recognize that a diverse mix of freaks, enthusiasts, vintage experts and excellent luthiers have created something unique and unmatched to this day. Nowhere else does such concentrated expertise in vintage instruments meet such great craftsmanship. It takes many years of perfect work to achieve the status of Master Builder in Fender's Custom Shop. One of those who has recently achieved this is Andy Hicks. Guitar-Place is proud to present one of his masterpieces here: The perfect illusion of an original '63 Roundlam Stratocaster in custom color Shell Pink! Artists like Eric Johnson have their original '50s Strats modified in the Fender Custom Shop for optimal playability. These subtle modifications have become something of a tradition and have also been incorporated into the Strat shown here! The RoundLam fretboard, which resembles the original '60s model, was dressed to a flatter 12" radius and fretted with 6105 Narrow Tall fretwire. Specifications like "sorted for lightweight" (body), "sorted for dark" (fingerboard), and handwound FAT60 single coils are almost considered good form and can be found here as well.
