Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster Late 1962 REL CAR Andy Hicks

These late '62 Strats regularly appear in our Custom Shop orders, and it's always a pleasure to see how the Master Builders bring our specifications to life. Here's a true masterpiece! A Andy Hicks Masterbuilt that you simply won't want to put down after the first play! The neck, with its subtle "Modern V" profile, features a fairly flat 12" fretboard with narrow-tall 6105 frets. These don't feel like oversized jumbos, but provide you an impression of just feeling allright. The 12" radius further enhances this, allowing for a very comfortable and low action when you wish this. Andy Hicks crafted the fretboard time correct as a round-lam version (Fender changed mid 1962 from the slapboards to this round-lam boards) and added the "sorted for dark" option and authentic clay dot inlays. The 2-piece alder body also got an upgrade (sorted for lightweight), bringing this Strat down to a comfortable weight of 3364 grams. Even played unplugged, it sounds full, rich, and with beautiful overtones. The hand-wound El Diablo pickups live up to their reputation, delivering the fundamental tone with that certain punch that brings a smile to every Strat lover's face. Excellent!
