Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster 1954 70th Ann JRN WF2TSB #5290

The Stratocaster from the first year of production in 1954 has a very special appeal, as it possesses a few features that were already gone a year later. For example, the rounded PU caps and slightly taller potentiometer knobs, both made of Bakelite. Furthermore, the serial number was not found on the neckplate, but was engraved on the tremolo cover. The body could be made from one to three pieces of ash, which varied considerably in weight. Our model has a two-piece ash body with offset stitching, which is quite lightweight and contributes to the low overall weight of this Strat (3214 grams!).
To mark its 70th anniversary, Fender produced a limited number of the '54 Strat in various stages of aging in 2024. All these models got hand-wound pickups (HW 54 Strat), a lightweight, 2-piece off-center ash body, a 1-piece maple neck (5/4 Quartersawn Maple) with Medium Vintage /47095 frets and a special V-profile (.885" / .980")
