Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster 1954 70th Ann JRN Cimaron Red

The Stratocaster from its inaugural production year, 1954, holds a unique appeal, featuring specific characteristics that disappeared just months later. Examples include rounded pickup covers and slightly taller potentiometer knobs—both made of Bakelite. Additionally, the serial number was not located on the neck plate but was instead engraved on the tremolo backplate. Bodies were crafted from one to three pieces of ash, resulting in significant weight variations; this particular model features a lightweight, two-piece ash body with the characteristic offset seam, contributing to the guitar's low overall weight.
To mark its 70th anniversary in 2024, Fender produced a limited run of '54 Stratocasters featuring various levels of aging. These models are equipped with hand-wound pickups (HW '54 Strat), a lightweight, two-piece off-center ash body, and a one-piece maple neck (5/4 quartersawn maple) with Medium Vintage (47095) frets and a special V-profile (.885" / .980").
