Fender Custom Shop Telecaster 1968 Thinline Vintage Custom R131996

Here is a very special instrument from the Fender Custom Shop – the reissue of a 1968 Thinline Telecaster. A brief history: The Thinline Telecaster was designed by Roger Rossmeisl in 1968 and, due to its semi-hollow construction, was not only lighter than classic Telecaster models, but also more resonant and warmer in tone. Because of this, the Thinline Tele was an often used instrument in Jazz, Blues and Rock.

For the "Telecaster 1968 Thinline Vintage Custom" only high-quality tonewoods were used in the Fender Custom Shop. The 2-piece body made of lightweight mahogany wood with an "F" soundhole has a pleasant 60's oval "C" maple neck as well as a fingerboard with a "compound" radius and "medium vintage" frets. The "grain plain" maple neck ensures that the neck does not lose its stability over the years. The ultra-thin nitro finish allows the wood to breathe and provides an open and dynamic tone. At just 3,140 grams, this tele is an absolute lightweight! This unique combination of high-quality tonewoods in combination with the two hand-wound '67 Single-Coil Tele® pickups gives the "Fender Custom Shop Telecaster 1968 Thinline Vintage Custom" the classic Tele-Twäng, paired with that characteristic semi-hollow tone for which the Thinline Telecaster is so appreciated. The meticulous work in the Fender Custom Shop has created an instrument that comes very close to the sound of the best originals from the 1960s. The overall impression is rounded off by an authentic finish in the classic "Aged Natural" color, which supports the "look and feel" of a well-protected old original in an excellent visual way.
