Fender Custom Shop Double Esquire 1951 Heavy Relic Greg Fessler R123721

Description

The development stages of the first electric guitar mass-produced by Fender range from Esquire - Double Esquire - Broadcaster - Nocaster to the final model called Telecaster. After the Esquire, which was manufactured with a lead pickup in the spring of 1950, had first sales successes, a few guitars with a second pickup in the neck position were manufactured in the summer of that year, as Leo Fender believed that this would boost market attractiveness. However, the Esquire remained the one-pickup model, while the Broadcaster, introduced in the fall of 1950, was fitted with two pickups.
The early Esquire model did not have a steel rod in the neck to compensate for string tension and the so-called channel route between the neck and lead pickup was not introduced until 1951.
The basis of Greg Fessler's reissue is a two-piece, feather-light Swamp Ash body, which is responsible for the pleasant total weight of just 3130 grams. You have to look for the original vintage guitar for a long time to find what you are looking for in this sensational weight class. These are often 3.5 kilograms and also significantly higher. A light body is a guarantee for a vibrating primary tone formation with unobtrusive but present overtones. Filigree varieties and also bluesy-rocking make such bodies easily heard.
A neck made of Canadian maple is screwed to the body, which, thanks to its pleasing V-shape, is much more comfortable to play than many a Telecaster neck from the early 1950s with their typical U-shaped neck cuts. We chose a slightly flatter 12" version for the fretboard radius, which, in combination with the popular 6105 frets, allows for great playability and makes bending significantly easier.
Of course, the guitar is finished with high-quality nitrocellulose lacquer and has undergone a first-class aging process by Greg Fessler. This gives you the impression of holding a vintage guitar that is over 70 years old. The audio signal is electrically amplified using hand-wound pickups, which deliver an authentic vintage sound.

The amplified tone is round, rough, warm, full, but never cutting or harsh, usable for all styles and bears any comparison with the best originals!
