#Fender Custom Shop Jazzmaster 1958 Desert Sand

Description

In 1958, Fender was next to Gibson the most respected guitar manufacturer in the USA. Nevertheless, one looked with a certain envy in the direction of Gibson, who successfully sold their high-end semiacoustics to the camp of highly regarded jazz guitarists. Since Fender also felt that the time was right to replace the Stratocaster as their flagship, they decided to develop a new guitar and called it "Jazzmaster". The new offset body designed by Leo Fender and Freddie Tavares was a logical progression. Jazz guitarists mostly played their instruments while sitting down and the body shape of the Jazzmaster offered optimal ergonomics!
As often, things turned out very differently and today the Jazzmaster, with its very special sound, is a popular instrument in almost all styles - except for jazz...
The Jazzmaster shown here is a reissue from 1958, the first year of production. As with Strat and Tele, a very special sound had been created. Due to the relatively small deflection angle of the string from the bridge to the tailpiece, this concept offers a fairly soft and full tone. The two powerful single coils ensure that it doesn't get too cozy and so this guitar has also become a popular tool in grunge and rock. The electronics with 2 separate circuits are unique. This is exactly how the Jazzmaster is still built today and why should Fender change anything about it? This sound has also written a part of rock history like Strat- and Telecaster!
