This ES-345 Trapeze Murphy Aged M2M is a pure joy! What's the secret? Playability, looks, aging, and of course, the sound—all combine to put a permanent smile on your face while playing. The '64 neck profile feels a touch more substantial than the more familiar '63. It's somehow confidence-inspiring, and there is the suspect that the neck is the reason for this Gibson's powerful tone. The aging is absolutely superb and looks fantastic. Thanks to the trapeze tailpiece, this 345 sounds a bit softer than models with the traditional stop tailpiece. Sustain and a satisfying attack are still more than adequate. This model comes very close to the sweet Larry Carlton tone. In short: a near-perfect ES that wants to—and can—compete with the best originals of its time!
