When Gibson launched the RD Custom in 1977, it was one of the most modern guitars in the range. The whole concept, the electronics, the shape - everything was new! It was built until 1982 and then disappeared from the scene again. Now it's back, produced by Gibson's Custom Shop in a small edition and in a fantastic design: Ebony High Gloss, block inlays, gold hardware! The sound is as classy as the look, but don't be fooled... the 490R humbucker on the neck allows for refined blues sounds with its clear and open tone. The 498T in the bridge position pushes mercilessly forward with an output of around 16 kOhm and still remains defined. Great!
