Daniel Ott Guitars L-14 Madagaskar #2

This is the second guitar after the redesign of my models. The model L-14 (Large 14-fret) is currently the largest model in my model range. Its tighter, pulled-up waist ensures high playing comfort and good balance, despite the large design. The lower bout has a width of approx. 40cm and can therefore cover a wide frequency spectrum. Due to its body length and depth, it has more air mass and thus generates a larger volume than my Model M. If you are looking for an instrument that is as loud and assertive as possible, the Model L is the right choice! The special frame construction creates a very rigid frame on which the top and back can act separately. The neck mount also benefits from the stable construction. Since the frame thickness is a whopping 7.5mm, my instruments do not require additional hoops. The interior looks very clean and modern. The neck also uses modern construction methods. The connection to the body is bolt-on at 4 points, which offers enormous advantages when finishing and later servicing. In addition to the 2-way titanium truss rod, the neck is equipped with 2 carbon strips, which make it incredibly torsion-resistant and transmit the sound more directly and evenly into the body. The magnetic truss rod cover fits perfectly into the elegant head shape. In addition, the subtle mini-bevel increases playing comfort. The generous florentine cutaway ensures unhindered access to the upper register of the fretboard.

This instrument was designed and built specifically for Guitar Summit . Elaborate inlays of stabilized, pressure-stained, and heat-treated burl wood give the guitar a unique and refined character. The segmented rosette, which took a great deal of time and effort to insert into the soft spruce wood, is particularly striking here. The body is made from the finest moon spruce and Madagascar rosewood. Its neck, made of very old, seasoned mahogany, transmits the sound wonderfully directly and, thanks to the strong C-shape, fits comfortably in the player's hand. The Crelicam ebony fingerboard from Bob Taylor's sawmill in Cameroon also has burl wood inlays.

Like all my guitars, it has a clear and powerful voice. Due to the large body, sound volume and bass frequencies are additionally enhanced. Punchy mids and bell-like highs ensure high assertiveness and a balanced sound. The sustain is exceptionally long, even in the upper positions of the fretboard!
