2023 Atkin Essential 000 Aged

With great passion, Alister Atkin and his team build wonderful guitars in Canterbury, UK. This like-new Atkin Essential 000 Aged is a prime example of their high-quality craftsmanship and sound. While its roots lie in the pre-war Martin models, its own distinct tonal character is clearly audible. This guitar sounds very transparent and balanced, making it perfect for fingerpicking and flatpicking. Featuring a heat-treated spruce top and mahogany body, it produces a rather mid-focused, dry tone. It also boasts a very thin, artificially aged nitrocellulose finish, which enhances responsiveness and accentuates its vintage character. The aging process is characterized by very fine cracks and a highly authentic look.

The playability is excellent. The neck has a medium C profile with a slight V-shape. A scale length of 24.9" (63.2 cm) results in slightly lower string tension and shorter fret spacing. The guitar's remarkably light weight is also a major plus!
