Like all guitars in the Authentic Series, this model was crafted based on the exact specifications of a vintage original, in this case, a 1936 Martin D-45S. Instruments from the legendary "Pre-War Era" enjoy an outstanding reputation among connoisseurs, collectors, and players alike. One rarely has the good fortune to find one of these instruments in well-preserved condition, given the very limited production numbers of that time. With the Authentic Series, Martin offers the opportunity to own the "Holy Grail" of acoustic guitars!

By using the highest-quality materials, Martin perfectly captures the charm and sound of these guitars. Construction and the use of premium tonewoods play a crucial role here; only the finest Adirondack spruce is used for the top. The bracing is also made from the same material and attached using vintage-correct hide glue. Every bracing component is hand-carved and perfectly fitted together. Only the experienced luthiers in the Custom Shop can execute this work with such meticulous precision to create an instrument of maximum resonance.

Premium-grade, certified Brazilian rosewood is used for the back and sides. Renowned for its three-dimensional tonal character, this wood lends the guitar immense depth and beautiful, controlled overtones. All these elements merge into a unique sonic experience—arguably the finest acoustic guitar we have encountered in 40 years!

Every visual and tactile aspect of the vintage original has been perfectly replicated. The shapes of the headstock, neck heel, bridge, and neck profile have been replicated with the utmost authenticity. The ornamentation, too, mirrors that of a 1936 Martin D-45S down to the finest detail. The aged finish provides the incomparable feel of a vintage, played-in guitar; the fine lacquer checking further "opens up" the sound, allowing the instrument to breathe freely.
