Fender Stratocaster Ed O´Brien Sustainer

Signature models have a long tradition at Fender. The latest signature model "Fender Ed O'Brien Sustainer Stratocaster" was created in close cooperation with Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien, and was developed according to his very personal sound ideas. Based on his beloved Clapton Strat, the signature model has been given some extraordinary features that enable Ed O'Brien to elicit his spacy sound collages directly from his Stratocaster without the use of effects.

In the face of such announcements one could ask the question "Is this a solid Rock guitar or a futuristic Space Machine?" The answer to that is: "Both!" And with Wow effect! The integrated Fernandes sustainer in the neck position makes it possible! If required, it creates magical carpets of sound with almost endless sustain on one or more strings. Anyone who has ever heard an E-Bow effect knows what we are talking about. Suddenly the guitar sounds like a flute, a violin or a spacy synthesizer as if by magic. A must for every electric guitarist who likes to experiment! And the sustainer effect can also be effectively controlled via built-in mini switches.

But the Rock side of this Strat is by no means neglected: the expressive Duncan JB Jr. humbucker on the bridge produces a superior Rock tone, and the Texas Special in the mid position adds that extra portion of presence that is needed for a traditional Fender sound. And as befits a signature guitar, it has also been given typical extras: a custom "Flower of Life" logo on the neck plate symbolizes the areas between whole and half notes.
