"The Sweet Sound of '64" is how Gibson themselves describes their latest masterpiece from the Gibson Custom Shop. When developing this unique guitar, special emphasis was placed on authenticity. The new 1964 ES-335 Reissue should sound like the very best originals from back then, that was the specification. The Gibson Custom Shop has saved neither time nor effort for this high claim. For this purpose, the expert craftspeople from the Gibson Custom Shop painstakingly studied old 335 originals from 1964, scanned them and analyzed their sound in detail. Every contour, every profile, every inlay and every color nuance of the old vintage models was recorded and transferred to the newly developed models down to the last detail. And wow! The result was one of the best 1964 ES-335 reissues that have been built to this day!

It goes without saying that only selected tonewoods were used in the selection of wood; from high quality maple for top/back to a "1-pc." mahogany neck with a dark rosewood fingerboard with historically correct small blocks inlays. Together with the Custombucker Alnico III pickups installed exclusively in CS guitars, which come damn close to the sound of the original PAF/Pat.No's., this is a guarantee for top-class sound quality! And the built-in paper in oil capacitors are some of the best electronics you can put on a guitar. All in all, this 1964 ES-335 Reissue clearly carries Vintage genes and is almost made for use in Jazz, Blues and Rock. Last, but not least, the Gibson Custom Shop has given the 1964 ES-335 Reissue an authentic VOS "Vintage Burst" finish that gives it the magical mojo of an instrument from the Golden Sixties that is second to none!
