Description
Two Strats from Austin MacNutt have just arrived. We had the opportunity to exchange a few emails with Austin in advance - the man knows exactly what he wants and is certainly an asset to the Fender Custom Shop !
Here is a 64 reissue in black with handwound Fat 60 PU's. The guitar is excellently crafted, "bubbles" very nicely and has great assertiveness with a slight dominance in the upper midrange. The neck profile is a "60s Style Oval C", the fingerboard has a 12" radius and 6105 medium jumbo frets. Our favorite combination for years, which plays like a dream and works perfectly ! It's been on this for some time now Spec sheet of the guitars we ordered has the small note "Fret Ends Slightly Rounded" and MacNutt has implemented this excellently on this Strat. The fret ends are left relatively straight and only subtly rounded. The advantage is obvious - the two E -Strings have more space on the edge of the fretboard, especially when vibrato on the high E string. A feature that you quickly appreciate!
