The success story of the Gibson Les Paul began in 1952 with the now legendary Gold Top Model with P-90 pickups. Initially equipped with a trapezoidal tailpiece, the Gold Top was fitted since 1953 with a so-called "wraparound" bridge, which made it much more comfortable to play. This enabled the guitarist to place the ball of the hand where the unpopular trapezoid tailpiece used to be.

As a tribute to Gibson's golden age, this Rock music icon has now been reissued by the Gibson Custom Shop with authentic specifications and some extremely useful upgrades. For example, the wraparound bridge was fitted with two front screws, which enable the intonation to be set precisely. Such a wraparound bridge system is a guarantee for a fast attack, lots of sustain and high dynamics. This 1954 gold top reissue has a solid, non-chambered mahogany body with maple top and all-round binding, a strong "Chunky C-Shape" mahogany neck in the style of the 50s and a fretboard made of Indian rosewood with trapezoid inlays. The two Custom Soapbar P-90 pickups are made for Blues and Classic Rock. Sometimes rough, aggressive and angry sounding, but also extremely brilliant and harmonious in clean mode. "Best of both worlds" so to say. And the built-in "Paper in Oil" capacitors are some of the best electronics you can give a guitar.
