While the Les Paul Gold Top model with P-90 pickups released in 1952 was already an absolute bestseller, 1957 was to become a milestone in the history of Gibson and the Les Paul in particular. Pickup guru Seth Lover developed the legendary P.A.F. (Patent Applied For) humbucker pickup in the mid-1950s, which was first installed on the Gibson Les Paul in 1957. The double-coil design of the new P.A.F. humbucker resulted in higher output and absolutely no hum. The first Les Paul models with the P.A.F. humbuckers were delivered in the traditional "Gold Top" color. And even though the later Sunburst models have achieved great fame, there are die-hard lovers for the shiny gold finish, which is simply absolutely noble. The famous Duane Allman would love it!

As a tribute to Gibson's golden age, this icon of rock music has now been re-released with authentic specifications. The Les Paul Standard 50's Gold Top features a solid, unchambered mahogany body with a maple top, a stout '50s-style mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays. The two calibrated Burstbucker 1 & 2 pickups clearly carry the coveted P.A.F. genes and are made for classic Vintage Blues and Rock sounds.
