Fender PU ERIC JOHNSON SIGNATURE STRATOCASTER® PICKUPS

Eric Johnson's outstanding guitar sound is the result of meticulous work. He allegedly selected the pickups of his favorite Stratocaster from a whole range of vintage PUs and tested it until he found the perfect combination for him. The result consisted of a '54 Strat Pickup with very large Alnico 3 magnets in the neck position and a '63 Strat Pickup with Alnico magnets in the middle position. A '63 Strat pickup with Alnico 5 magnets is also used in bridge-position, which despite its higher output has a wonderfully sparkling, brilliant sound

When developing this special pickup set, Fender's R&D engineers meticulously replicated the original pickups. Only the middle PU received a coil wound in opposite directions for phase reversal, which eliminates annoying hum when connected with the neck or bridge pickup.
