Again an exceptional Custom Shop Stratocaster from one of our favorite Masterbuilders Ron Thorn! It is not without good reason, because Ron Thorn was one of the first guitar builders to receive the title "Principal Master Builder", one of the highest awards in the Fender Custom Shop! An instrument from his hands is a guarantee of the highest quality in design, sound and playability.
This time Ron Thorn has set himself the task of recreating a 1959 Fender Stratocaster as authentically as possible. To do this, Thorn took a close look at the materials used and the manufacturing methods of the time, in order to create a unique instrument that is as good as the best old originals in terms of quality. This 1959 Stratocaster reissue has everything that distinguishes a Thorn Masterbuilt. Carefully selected tonewoods, such as a lightweight alder wood for the body and an impressively flamed "AA" Quartersawn maple neck with "sorted for dark" rosewood fingerboard is a guarantee for a first-class tone with plenty of punch, resonance and sustain. The neck in "Modern C" format with a flat 9.5 inch radius and 6105 Narrow Jumbo frets enforces a great action. The hand-wound Tomatillo pickups produce a stunningly original vintage tone that is instantly catchy! Crisp and brilliant – it couldn't be better! That's exactly how a late fifties Strat has to sound! In order to make the 59er Reissue-Strat suitable for today's purposes, Thorn installed a modern 5-way circuit and an additional tone saver circuit, where the volume is reduced without any loss of sound. All in all, once again a real Masterpiece by Ron Thorn!
Actually, the finish "Ocean Turquoise Metallic" does not yet appear in the official Fender program in 1959, but was probably still available on special request. A wonderful "Lush Closet Classic" aging with fine hairline cracks provides the matching mojo, giving the guitar the "Look & Feel" of a well-kept vintage original.
