#Fender Custom Shop Telecaster 1952 Heavy Relic Nocaster Blonde MB Ron Thorn

The first Telecasters were offered in late summer of 1951. Exactly these models were the inspiration for the guitar shown here. These early Teles had all the specifications of the Nocaster. Slotted screws were used instead of the later used philipps screws and the finish was mostly a bit lighter than on the later 52 models. The humbucker was of course not yet invented in 1951 and so this Telecaster picks up a popular modification that was later taken over into the range by Fender.

Ron Thorn implemented our idea of an early and modified Tele with his usual perfection! Every detail has been meticulously considered! For the body, Ron selected a piece of excellent ash with the knowledge of one of the best luthiers currently working for Fender !

This shows a beautiful grain, the vibration behavior is simply phenomenal and the whole instrument has a fantastically low weight with only 3070 Gramm. Thorn outdoes himself every time he does relicing. We wanted the headstock to have a little more “Heavy Relic” than usual and if you look at the pictures you will see: it couldn't be much better or more authentic!

A Tele is without a doubt a perfect guitar and is loved by fans precisely because of its rough character and personality. Anyone who portrays their typical character with as much care and skill as Thorn does not compromise on the pickups either: a hand-wound "Blackguard" on the bridge, the fantastic "Pearly Gates" by Seymour Duncan in the neck position!
