The guys from the Fender Custom Shop always come up with something new – and so this exquisite Custom Shop 60s Tele Reissue was equipped with a hand-wound Texas Special Single-Coil pickup in the bridge in combination with the newly released Wide Range "CuNiFe" humbucker on the neck. This ingenious combination has probably never been seen before on a Telecaster. A brief history: The Wide Range "CuNiFe" humbucker has a long tradition at Fender. It was developed in 1971 by pickup guru Seth Lover, who was known to be a humbucker specialist. The "CuNiFe" pickup has a two-coil humbucker design that uses 12 "CuNiFe" screws connected at the bottom by a steel plate. "CuNiFe" is an alloy named for its three metal constituents copper (Cu), nickel (Ni) and iron (Fe). The result is a fabulous "Hi-Fidelity" sound with rich bass and brilliant highs, which has the Fender genes in it, but also clearly reflects the heavy sound that was so popular in the 70s. This Tele rocks! To the chagrin of many guitarists, production of the "CuNiFe" Wide Range humbucker was discontinued in 1979. The guys from the Fender Custom Shop have therefore spared no effort to reissue this coveted pickup. For this, samples of the original magnets were used to develop a "CuNiFe" Wide Range humbucker, which comes close to the best originals of that time.

This ingenious pickup assembly is topped by the construction of the "Fender Custom Shop Telecaster Custom Relic Ltd Cunife"! The 2-piece body made of lightweight alder has a pleasant 60's oval "C" Quartersawn maple neck with a selected dark rosewood fingerboard with a 9.5 inch radius and classic 6105 frets. Weighing in at just 3,370 gr, this Tele is an absolute lightweight! The overall impression is rounded off by an exquisite finish in "Chocolate 3-Color", which was given an authentic Faded Relic Aging by the Fender Custom Shop, that gives the playing feel of a played in original still in a visually excellent way.
