If you're looking for the feel and sound of a vintage guitar, you've come to the right place. This Martin D-18 1939 Authentic Aged, built in 2018, sounds incredibly opened-up and warm. The Martin Custom Shop has spared no effort to produce as exact a replica as possible of a classic Martin D-18 from the "Golden Era". Authentic ingredients such as hot hide-glue combined with the selected and heat-treated tonewoods (VTS System), develop a special sound. The Adirondack spruce top in particular is an important component. The bracing pattern and shape as well as the headstock, neck and bridge are also based exactly on the model from 1939. In addition, this guitar was given a wafer-thin aged finish. The crackling in the thin nitro finish are partly responsible for the "broken-in" sound. The narrow neck with a round neck profile ensures quick chord changes. The guitar is particularly suitable for flat picking and chord playing. Acoustically, it can also assert itself against other folk instruments such as banjo and violin thanks to its extremely good projection. This wonderful guitar is delivered in the original Martin Harshell case including certificate!

Apart from the factory aging, the guitar is in mint condition. Tested and optimally adjusted by our guitar maker!

In February 2022, the first Martin Custom Shop models will arrive, created by the new Martin distributor Musifacts. We immediately saved an instrument! This Martin D-18 Custom Shop has some special features. For a warm, well-rehearsed sound, the Premium Sitka spruce top has been treated with the VTS (Vintage Tone System). The back, sides and neck (!) are made of premium quality Sinker Mahogany. "Sinker" in this case means that the mahogany logs sank onto the river bed while rafting and lay there for several decades. With great effort, these logs were brought back to the daylight and were dried. This process is evident in the grain of the wood. Overall, the result is a warm, powerfull sound with a lot of clarity and very good balance. The Golden Era Forward Shifted Scalloped Bracing gives the top even more room to vibrate freely, so that the player gets a lot of feedback from the instrument. A really great instrument that every guitarist will be completely enthusiastic about!
